Happy World Cardmaking Day

with No Comments

This post is slightly belated, but the card I made was for world cardmaking day!

I used The Ton’s floral world, and heat embossed clear embossing powder over pink color theory ink. The heat embossed powder prevented the ink from running once I watercolored overtop of the image. I took out my Gansai Tambi watercolours for this card, and it was super simple. A little sequin embellishment and I’m done!

Off in the Clouds

With all of the happy birthday cards in the world, sometimes its hard to find a sad condolence card for a loved pet. I like the versatility that comes with some of these stamp sets, to allow me to create cards like this. This beautiful card is created using two different stamp sets. The sentiments and die cut ‘prayers’ are Hero Arts. The cat in the clouds is from WPlus9 You are going places.

The light blue sky is Distress ink in tumbled glass and it was brushed on with a large clarity brush. I like the softness that using the clarity brushes can give the look of a card. It is great for backgrounds like this where you don’t want it across the entire top of the card, but only in the center.

Magical Card with Color Burst Watercolors

with No Comments

It is a long weekend here in Canada, which has given me lots of time to play around with some new crafty toys. One of which is the Ken Oliver Color Bursts. These come in different colours and are in powder form, and once you add water it ‘bursts’ with colour all over the page. Very fun stuff.

This card is created using the My Favorite Things ‘Magical Unicorns’ stamp set. It was specifically created for the MFT Card Challenge.

Rose Birthday with Altenew

The background paper on this card is really what made this card so beautiful and elegant, and lets be real, it would be nothing without it. I will give myself some credit for the gorgeous way the pink accents brightened up the grey background. I love this stamp and die set from Altenew, Vintage Roses. It doesn’t involve any colouring which is always a bonus in my book, and they come out perfect every time.

To stamp I used three different shades of pinks from Color Theory. The roses were then cut out using the matching dies. The Happy birthday sentiment is from So Suzy Stamps, and was stamped in black Color Theory ink and then heat embossed over top of the black. The pink banner was actually a white banner which I used some of the ink on a sponge and blended it out. The silver sparkly washi tape was lined along the bottom and a few sequins added here and there!

Just a gorgeous background. I love, love those grey roses, and I wish I had more paper like that. This card was a special one and only!

Safari Sunset with Altenew Baby Zoo

with No Comments

I had so much fun last time with the Baby Zoo I am back again with another card using the stamp set. This time I used the die cuts to create shadowed animals as if they are out in the wild with the African sunset in the background. I love that I had a reversed ‘happy birthday’ stamp to continue with the black shadowed focus of the card. I love that the Altenew Baby Zoo stamp set has the versatility to do this cool shadow look. It can create some pretty cool cards!

Fun with Altenew Baby Zoo

The Altenew Baby Zoo stamp and die set is so great for kids birthdays! The cute chevron background matched the color scheme perfectly and brought the card together. The happy birthday banner is from The Ton ‘Hey Foxy’ stamp set.

Using a different color scheme on the same card can really change it up. I cannot choose which card I like better!

You make my tail wag!

I just love a cute animal on the front of a card, and these dogs from My Favorite Things are so adorable. To make this card I used the brick stencil from MFT, and Distress Inks to create the brick wall background. I die cut a piece of grass using the grass die cut, and just covering the bottom of the card so it wouldn’t get any red at the bottom. Then I used the other half of the paper I cut the grass out of, to protect the brick from any green getting on it.

The doggie was hand cut, since I don’t have the dies that go with it, and was coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers.

What a happy little card, that was actually quite simple to put together! I love when backgrounds come together so easily while looking quite intricate and detailed!

Nine Lives

There is nothing worse than the passing of a loving pet. Sometimes they have been in your life for 20+ years such as a cat that you have had from a little kitten. Losing any pet is very hard. I have found that animal condolence cards can be very welcoming in these sad times for family members. I try to make them as uplifting as possible, but sometimes it is hard to represent without being terribly sad.

This card has been created using two My Favorite Things stampt sets; Cool Cat and Magical Unicorns. I love the combining of the wings behind the cat as it goes up into the clouds over the rainbow into heaven. The background was blended together using a mix of Distress Inks in pinks and purples. Spectrum Noir markers were used for the kitty and rainbow.

I love how the colours make the card a little bit more uplifting and happy, to allow the recipient to view their beloved family better off in a better place.

Here is a close up of the cat.

How I have missed crafting!

with No Comments

Wow.. It has been so long since I have crafted something nice! I took some time off for a few months but now I’m back! I have been busy with a few cards this past week and I have come here to share them with you!

This card is so incredibly pink! It was made to celebrate someones birthday.. and they just so happened to LOVE pink, and sparkles! These two things might also be my favourite things as well! I wanted to create an ombre effect with the sequins going from dark to light. I didn’t have a 5-0 die cut so I just printed large numbers out and traced them onto my pink sparkly paper and then cut it out by hand.

I really hope the recipient enjoyed their card, and their 50th birthday party!

Thank you for visiting and checking out my creations! Hopefully it doesn’t take me 3 months to write another post.

This card has been entered into the camp create ombre challenge!
