3D Shapes on a Congratulations Card

It is so hard to find the time nowadays to craft. Life can just be busy and hectic. There is really nothing better than putting on some music and creating beautiful things. I am so glad this week I have had some time to make cards. Here is one of them I have had the chance to create this week. It is one of my new favourites. (I think I say that about all of them). I hope you also enjoy it!

For this DIY dress card I followed the template fromĀ Little Scraps of Paper. Once I printed out the template, I traced it onto a new sheet of white paper.

I used the back lighting from a window to help see behind the white paper.

I cut out the outline of the skirt and top. I then used my scoring board to score along the dotted lines. This just helped for folding the pleats of the dress.

This is what I was left with! I erased all off the pencil lines, and began to fold the pieces leaving the outside panel flat. This took a few tries to figure out which way folded up or down. This is going to add that 3D aspect to the card.

I die cut the congratulations die from some gold sparkly paper, and twice from plain black cardstock. I then glued the two other congratulations in black behind the gold one to add some dimension.

The hard part was figuring out what background paper I was going to use. I had too much going on with my card at first with this gold background paper, and decided to use a simple light blue cardstock. I die cut with the stitched edge and the scalloped edge, and glued the two together. I put the dress together, and added a gold ribbon for a belt, and the flower I used from a scrapbook sticker, that I was probably not going to use for actual scrapbooking.

The congratulations word was glued above that, and with everything put together I thought it needed just a few sequins. I used the white sequins from the nautical sparkle set, and the gold sequins from the sparkle and shine set.

This is the final card! It doesn’t have too much going on in the background, so I think its quite simple! This was actually pretty easy to make! I think this one will be a staple for weddings and showers for me to make for everyone. So friends, expect this or some similar version of it!
