I am super excited to announce that I am a new Design Team member for the Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog! This is a great place for card makers to come to take part in bi-weekly challenges and a chance to win some great prizes! Check out the blog if you haven’t already!
This challenge is for the men in our lives, sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps. The stamp I am using from Bugaboo stamps is called Puppy Pile and it is oh so cute! My sentiment is from My Favorite Things stamp set called I knead you.
There are a lot of ‘firsts’ in this card challenge for me. This is my first time designing for another blog. It is also my first time using a Digital stamp or ‘digi stamp’. I was surprised how easy it was to produce a cute card front with this technique, and I know this will be opening up a whole new world for me in stamping.
If you are new to Digital stamps as well you may watch this video below where I have gone through my actions to unzip and manipulate the stamp in Microsoft Word.
To use a digi stamp, you download it from the store and use it as you will in a photo program or in microsoft word. It is so easy to manipulate and expand or shrink and the quality never gets distorted. With my puppy pile image, I used microsoft word to shrink the image so that it would fit on the card front and be the center of attention on my 4.25 x 5.5 inch card front. I printed off the digi stamp onto some 80 lb card stock and used a die cut frame to cut out a rectangle with a stitched border. The frame I used is from Mama Elephant and the set is the basic set. I also cut out a banner from the same set which I would stamp my sentiment on.
The card itself is grey, with a grey striped patterned paper. The card is a top folding card measuring 11 x 4.25 inches and scored halfway at 5.5 inches.
To colour in the pile of puppies, I used my Spectrum Noir markers. (BG4, BG2, BG1, IG10, IG8, IG6, IG4, IG2, IG1, OR3, OR2, DR2 and DR4). I also used a few Hobby Colour markers for the flowers and the doggy bone (Vanilla, Cream, Ivory, linen, pearly blue and sky blue). For the grass I used Distress Ink in mowed lawn, and the blue surrounding the dogs is also distress ink in tumbled glass.
I created a mask by printing off two of the pile of puppies, and cut around the ‘mask layer’ and using micropore tape to tape it down temporarily. I then blended the colours, starting from the inside and working my way out.
Once the puppies were coloured I used some foam tape to attatch the white card front to my card. and some tombow liquid glue to attach my banner.
That was it, and I hope you enjoy my card! Thank you for visiting.
